I don't like to use these. At times it is hard to see the color of the thread. Instead, I use clear plastic tubing (from hardware store) 1/2 inch diameter -- cut in pieces to fit bobbin and make a slit to place it over thread. You can see the color and you can also write on it as to type, cotton, polyester, etc.

That is a great idea Carolyne.I never thought to use the ties on my sewing thread and embroidery thread. Thanks for that tip. That will fit real well since they stretch.Thanks.

I use the teenie, tiny rubberbands my son uses for his ponytail. (Don't ask!!! His barber threatens to cut if off every time he goes for a haircut!)

I understand quite well.My son also has a ponytail. He snags my bobbin covers( PONYTAIL BANDS) once in a while. Not so much anymore since I changed to pink and purple ones.

which ever you like to use either tubing or pony tail bands you may want to put them in old prescription bottles. I read that tip on here also a couple weeks ago.You can use a different bottle for each color and write on them.Mary

Is the tubing harder to use if your fingers have joint problem? I like the hair band better as all u have to do is peek at it.

I have good old Arthur in my joints and I don't have a problem with the tubing.

Good idea. I use bobbin boxes and to make sure they stay in place, I glued a double layer of light weight batting to the lid. Then they don't come unwrapped, and when I want to look for a color, I turn it upside down to look for the right bobbin color. ;)
