I use the same little thingies. When I was at the International Quilt Festival last year; they were charging an arm and a leg for them When I got home I found a ton of them at the Dollar Store. So I bought a few paks of them. Downside is that you Cant't see the color of the thread. Stacking the bobbin on top of the spool of thread would be helpful and keep the bobbins/spools organized by color.

Thanks for the tip - I will give it a try. Most of the holders are far too expensive. I did find a sort of bargain at our last quilt show - the holder that Nancy Zieman advertises is usually advertised at around the $60 mark and when I saw it for $24 I snapped it up. It works really well.

I saw these for sale on a material site really expensive, but it gave me the idea so I went to wal mart a bought a card of them to try. They work great like you said I got tired of the mess in my drawer and bobbin box.

I leave just a little end showing out from under the hair thingy so I can see the color.

Leave a little Tail, and put a knot in it. You will see the color, and not waste time searching or untangling.

Thanks for sharing, this is a great idea. I also place a rubber band around my hand quilting thread. It allows you to pull some thread without letting it get out of control.

I had been using twist ties until recently. I'm using the pony tail holders now. I also heard about the tubing. I think I would like it better because you can see what color thread you have. I just haven't gotten to the hardware store lately.
