Default Books by Marie Bostwick and Jennifer Chiaverini

Both of these authors have new books out...Don't know how many of you are following the Elm Creek series but the next book out is Mrs. Lincoln's Dressmaker and Maire Bostwick's next book between Heaven and Texas is out. I wasn't too impressed with Jennifers last couple of books hopefully this one will be better...I love Marie's books makes me feel like I am in that small town of her's and among her friends... If anyone is interested Marie did an interview on QNNtv and showed the store that the story was based on ..I thought it was very interesting to see.
Happy reading all my books should be here next week

I read about Jennifer Chiaverini's new book, and it didn't sound like it was one of the Elm Creek Series. It sounded like it was just about Mrs. Lincoln. I am anxious to hear what people think of it.

I love Marie Bostwick's books! I didn't realize the new one was out. The last couple of books of Jennifer's were kind of disappointing to me. It seems like after reading a few they seem all the same.

I am reading Mrs. Lincoln's Dressmaker right now and I like it better than the Elm Creek books. It tells the story of the Lincoln years in the White House and the period after from the perspective of a freedwoman seamstress who became the friend and confidante of Mrs. Lincoln.
It is less focused on quilts/sewing and more on history than most of JC's books.

I enjoyed Mrs Lincoln's Dressmaker very much. I think it is one of Jennifer Chiaverini's better books. I have read all of her books and, while I enjoy them, I do think she spends far too much time giving background info in her stories. I don't remember which book in particular it was but, I felt like nothing new was going on. I also like Marie Bostwick's books and didn't realize she had a new book out. Thanks for bringing it to our attention!

I believe someone on the board mentioned the Mrs. Lincoln book so via the library system I have read Elizabeth Keckley's book-she as the dressmaker- and also started to read Chiaverini's version......stopped reading that one...as it was almost identical to Keckley's original....except she was not at the theatre on that fateful evening and I understand that in Chiverini's book it is stated or implied (?).....Don't know anything about the other author mentioned.

I gave up reading the sequels of Chiaverini....got too drawn out....on to other authors........Just read P.J. James-Death at Pemberly.....a fictional sequel to Pride and Prejudice....Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth.....love that love story......
