Hello! I just got EQ7 in the mail yesterday (YAAAAY!) for my Mom for Mother's Day. She hasn't gotten the time to sit down with it yet, but I need to become familiar with the program so that I can provide knowledgeable tech support.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Anyway, the first two projects I've tackled are working out the proportions for an in-the-future Jewel Box for a friend's Queen bed. That went well. I'm also designing the Warm Wishes for my much-loved Aunt who's recently had some troubling news regarding a lump on her femur. I figured the design would be a simple one to tackle and it would go together quickly. I already have the fabrics for the main squares of the quilt. Her tastes run in the pink-green-brown variety.

I'm just a little stuck on what to do for borders! I think I like a three-fabric surround to mimic the pieced squares in the Warm Wishes. I just came up with that this morning, though, so I'm not sure how my thoughts will settle.

I'm also debating whether or not it needs an entirely different pinky-salmon-rose fabric for the outermost border. Would that be too complex? Better to stick to just the four main fabrics in the quilt? Or do you think it might add something? Pink is her absolute favorite color, so I wanted that to be the focus of the border.

This community is full of knowledge, experience, and OPINIONS! Help?

Here are the fabrics in question. I found the green-based focal fabric first on sale at my LQS and immediately thought of her. I built the other fabrics around it.

Without the brown border, what I was thinking last night.

I added the brown border this morning.

Try out the brown border first, followed by the cream and then the pink.

In the quilt body you have the cream and then the brown. I think your cream, brown, and then pink borders really set it off.

I like the brown border, but I would not make the cream and brown borders the same width. Probably go with a brown border about half the size you have shown.
