Bow Tuck purse pattern question about zipper, size and where to bbuy
#1
Does anyone miss having a zipper?
Does the pattern have all three different sizes or do I need to buy three patterns?
I was thinking of making these for my 8 daughters for Christmas so I showed it to my 19 year old to see if she thought she and her sisters would be interested. the main concern she had was lack of zipper and next where fabric choices. Ofcourse I would personalize the fabric to fit their taste but I am not sure how hard it would be to make a zipper.

No I don't miss the zipper. A big button or such and the loop is all that is necessary. SOme are using the magnetic snaps. Since everything has a place inside with all the pockets, it did not matter to me there was no zipper.
There are only two sizes: large and small. Small is pretty small. Too small for me and the average women I think and I don't carry as much as most in my bag. As far as fabric choices, that is what is nice-you can personalize. Just make 'em mom and stop worrying. YOu know what your girls like, so make accordingly.

I've been putting peel and stick velcro on the inside of my bags that just have a button. It closes, no zipper installation problems, and nothing falls out. I have a tendency to drop my purse all the time and then, blooey, all the insides are outsides! LOL! The velcro solves this problem. I also use velcro dots on the outside pockets that I use for my cell phone.

Thanks for all the input, ideas and thoughts. I have atleast two girls that expressed strong feelings about having a zipper in the purse. I might look at a different pattern that still has some of that neat storage but has a zipper in it.

Just a reminder if you put in a zipper you won't have the ties on each end. Also contact fellow board member klnsmith, she has made Bow Tucks installing zippers and already has a tute on these awesome purses.
