I do think there are laws against such selling practices, and I really don't think Walmart wants to be branded with that black mark, not to mention the legal retribution that might be attached......

and as you stated...your purchase was identified as refurbished...and I think that would be the norm, no matter who the seller is.
sorry Geri - I misread wawak as Walmart. Totally my confusion.

I had this machine for my travel machine and for the most part loved it! The only thing I didn't like was that t he needle was left homing. If I had a straight stitch foot on the machine and forgot to center the needle when I turned it on, I would break a needle when I started sewing. But if you are not one to use a straight stitch foot and use the foot that came with the machine, it would be a great back up. Be aware the harp space is small, also. That said, I sewed a lot of quilts and bags on mine!

I have had one of these for a number of years. Maybe 8 years. I love it. Have not had a minutes trouble with it. I bought it at Walmart for, I believe, $100 back then.

I had the CS 6000i, loved it! Fast & quiet, did very well, I don't have it anymore because a granddaughter also loved it so I gave it to her.

I used it for a backup & travel/class/Stitch Camp machine. No problems at all but I do recommend putting it on rubberized shelf lining because it is lightweight that stops it from moving around.

I also have a couple of other Brother machines from big box stores that I keep at my daughters' who live out of state, when I visit I have reliable machines to use. I also use Brother TOL's as main machines in my home, love them all.

Several years ago I wrote to Brother Co asking if machines in the discount stores & machines at dealers that were similar had any differences internally with the mechanisms-they replied in writing, that no, there is no difference.

I am on my second 6000i in about 8 years, and it is a very nice back up machine. Lightweight and easy to use.

This is a nice little machine. My sister has this machine and loves it, the nice feature about it is it's only 12 pounds so for a take along machine its perfect.
