I have had this machine since Christmas and have not used the monogram feature because it seemed so worthless - can't change font or size, 1/2" letters, very limited application in my opinion. (And yours - when I was searching here that was the opinion of most.)

I still agree, but found that I can do a little with it. Doesn't really work for decoration, but for identifying a little one's nap quilt at "school" it should be fine. (I'm still working on that last "E". I forgot to put it in and had to add it!)

I'm starting to sneak peeks at more elaborate machines, but this one suits me well at this point.

Anyone else found uses for this limited tool?

It really is small, but I have the same machine, and have turned out some really cute labels with it. I now also have a Janome Memory Craft 300E, and love it for monogramming.

I'm sure it's in the manual, but is there a way to space between words? I just put the needle up and scootch the fabric a bit. Not very scientific, but it works.

When I first got the machine I tried it and was frustrated and disappointed so just ignored the feature. Today I found if I starch the dickens out of the fabric first it works fine.

My old kenmore has a similar font. i used it a lot to put my kids names on their clothes for school/gym. Even made labels for some things by emb.on iron-on patches.

Iron on patches? I picture patched knees on jeans when I think of those. :) Have to look and see what they are like these days. Thanks for the idea.

The space between words looks like underline.

the ones i used weren't denim, they were lightweight, usually white or tan. you could get it in a large sheet and cut to size. May no longer be available, it's been a while since i had to label kids clothes- my "baby" is 21.

Yeah, I never have found out a way to put a space in between words. I just did what you did. Be sure to put stabilizer behind it, and the words will turn out better.
