Welcome to retirement! I wouldn't trade it for anything - except maybe the pay! Anyway, we'll have to stay in touch - our newest (as of April 2012) SIL asked if I'd make them a double wedding ring quilt. As he asked this question ONLY 6 weeks prior to wedding, I told him he'd get the quilt - just not in 6 weeks! They finally picked out the fabric in January. So, onward & upward! I guess it's jump in feet-first for both of us! Good luck!!

Well...you will be busy for awhile....I haven't worked for a number of years....the sabbatical kind of became retirement. Seems I am busier now than I was when my kids were young and I worked full-time.

I've been retired nearly 10 years. I looked forward to it even though I loved my job. There were always things I wasn't able to get to when I was working. I view retirement as a really long vacation and I love it..... don't know how I had time to work. There are always so many things to do.
How you view life is a choice you make..... if you decide you're going to love being retired and fill your days with things you love..... it will happen. If you dread retirement and find fault with every little thing, it will be miserable. I choose to love it... and I do.

Retirement is divine! Two of my retirement goals were: to get an eReader and read a book any time of the day if I pleased and to finally get into quilting. Well, I have read more in the past two years but wonder where all that extra time is that I thought I would have? Maybe I'm just too busy quilting!!!! Or getting a facial or letting my hair go naturally grey or getting rid of my acrylic fingernails. And instead of being dressed to kill each day I'm happy in jeans and fleece planning my next quilt. Life is definitely different but mostly free and easy. Who could complain about that? And that I'm young enough to enjoy it! I wish that for all of you!
