That's right... the mother of the baby may not know you weren't invited or even been asked who she wanted to invite. If you made the gift in love, then I would give it to the mother regardless. Sometimes a private gift opening is much more special than the "show" a shower can become.

Sometimes I'm happy not going to a shower. They can be so tedious and you get tempted to eat a TON of sugar. Ha, ha.
