It is my understanding that this is for the quilts that are being mailed from outside of the US. This way they don't need to mail them to the US and then have them sent to Japan; they can go directly to Japan.
No, the request from the Tokyo office of Patchwork Quilt Tsushin Magazine (the magazine that QNM is working with in Japan), is that quilts being mailed directly to them not be mailed until May 1st at the earliest. The country of origin does not matter.

Sorry, I guess I didn't make myself clear. The ones that are being sent to the Colorado address should be there before April 30th. Those that are not being sent to the Colorado address, but being mailed directly to Japan, are to be sent after May 1st.

If anyone wants to follow this thread can go to Keepsake Quilting http://www.keepsakequilting.com/ and then click on their Facebook link to see it.

Or you can go directly to Dana Jones' blog (she's the managing editor of QNM) to keep up on any changes to their plans. http://www.quiltersnewsletter.com/bl...lts-for-japan/

I would be afraid to mark 'quilts for Japan', because they may get stolen

Hattiesburg's local quilt guild is collecting them and they told me until May 31st and it could be old/new quilts, it's cold over there and they need any quilts. Don't you feel for the poor people. I lived thur Katrina, thank God my house wasn't damaged but I did live one month without power, phone or cable. I had drinking water in just two day for I live in the county and have community water.
