You know everything happens for a reason.

What a wonderful story and what a treasure to have the
machine that belonged to your brother. I do believe that some
of these old things "talk" to us. But, this is from someone has
been smitten by old things for a long time.......My DH is the same
way and between the two of us we have lots of treasures.(to
us anyway....)

I am so sorry for your loss. You have chosen such a lovely place to display your machine :D you must get great pleasure looking at it while sewing, and have so many wonderful memories to revisit whenever you look at it... I am sure that your DB is watching and is very pleased that you made a quilt with his machine, and that it will some day be going to another person whom he adored!! :D :D
Thank you for sharing such a warm and touching story with us!!!

Now this is going to sound insane but was it close to your brothers birthday or death day that your husband gave you the box???? Within 2 weeks of either? I love the machine and it looks so lovely on the shelf, it is a place of honor. Sorry about your loss.

Funny you should ask, actually it was near my birthday. My brother's birthday is on 12/3 and my birthday is on 3/12, kinda of neat! :)
