Made me think.... I don't own a pincushion. Maybe I need one. I just piece and don't use pins but my goal for the summer is to become proficient in needle turn applique and I want to get pins for applique. I like the piece of cake ones. they are really cute.

I collect china pincushions and have stayed away from most of the cloth ones except the satin with the little people around them. I always thought they were cute but didn't have any place to put them. When you said a 'basketful of pincushions" I thought what a great idea.:-)

I love pincushions, but don't have a nice collection like you do.

I use the magnetic one as well and I love it. I have a few other pincushions but use the magnetic one 99% of the time.

Wow - you have quite a wonderful collection. How long have you been collecting? I love the little owl and the teapot amazes me. Gotta try that one! My SIL collects them too. She is a retired Home Economics teacher and she also bakes fancy cakes, so for her BD I made her a little cake on a pedestal pincushion that she loves. My DH and i found the glass pedestal at an antique barn. I sewed a cylinder in white satin, filled it with saw dust, and embellished it with ribbonwork, then attached it to the pedestal. A fun project!
