Default Can you tell me what is a mystery quilt?

I've watched for several weeks now and keep seeing references to mystery quilts. What are they? Also need to know what ISO means, and pif. thanks, Connie

A mystery quilt has step by step directions, but no picture of the finished product. As the clues (steps) continue, you see more of what the quilt will look like, until the last clue--when you finally see the entire picture. ISO=in search of. PIF=pay it forward

Thanks for the reply, but now I really feel stupid. What does "pay it forward" mean?

I think if someone does something for you or helps you out in some way, and the you in turn do something nice to anothe person, you are paying the good deed forward. That's my interpretation

The way PIF is often used in the quilter circle is that the person who does something nice for another person does not want anything in return. They may say, just pass it forward.

THank you for asking the question. I didn't know either, but was afraid to ask. See, there's no such thing as a "dumb" question. You braved it & asked it for the rest of us. I just assumed that everyone knows, except me. Thanks again.
