I used heat bond to appliqué a piece onto a quilt. I tried to stipple it. My needle seemed to get stuck. I decided to rip out what I had done. But, now I have all these little holes. Can someone tell me how to get rid of them? Thanks.

Your needle was sticking because of the adhesive in the heat bond. I don't think you will be able to get rid of the needle holes because of the heat bond. When I do applique, the only sewing I do on the applique piece is a buttonhole stitch around the edge to further secure it to the background fabric.

I use 805 Wonder Under for all my applique pieces....at times, there have been mistakes and I find that if you slightly dampen a white cloth and blot the holes with the cloth and then iron over this blotted area the holes close back up. But that is using the Wonder Under. Heat Bond seems much heavier so this might not work.

Thanks for your replies. I'm just sick about this. This is probably the best quilt I've ever done and now I've messed it up. I will try the damp cloth and hope for best. Have a great day!

Heat & Bond is not meant to be sewn through...it is for crafty type stuff. I use Wonder Under exclusively.

Don't get the cloth too wet...You don't want fabrics to bleed. Good luck!

there are a number of different Heat & Bond products....the regular heat n bond says---no sew fusable---the Heat N Bond Lite is made for sewing projects & says so on the packaging. the (craft one-no sew) is a permenent bond---the lite will wash away like most fusables used for appliques. you could try washing & see if it washes away or not- this is one of those situations- it's always best to Read the packaging before using a new product- make sure you have the correct one- Steam a seam is the same ---there is a lite product made for sewing projects & a heavy product made for no-sew crafts. people have (mixed results) from wonder under- & it is more difficult to find in some areas.
i would contact the company (Heat N bond) and ask them how to proceed---they may have a (magic fix) to your problem- you are not the first to do this- or unfortunatly will you be the last.

I got some of the holes out with an iron and damp cloth. I usually use Wonder Under, but the store was out. I guess Heat Bond is not the same. I will post a picture of my Easter Quilt on the pictures forum.. Thanks for your help.

I was going to suggest steam also. Are you planning on washing the quilt when it's done? That should help with the holes.
