I've heard that you need to whack the big bulky nub with a clean hammer to help flatten all the layers of fabric at the points. I've never done it, but it sounds like a good frustration blaster. "Sorry, honey, I don't want to talk about that right now. I'm going to my sewing room to whack a few nubs."

Looks good. As Shnn said -- starch. It is hard for boards to stretch :). Your points look great. I would try blocking the block to get rid of any puckering now (before you put it in the quilt or finish it another way).

Sometimes a good tap with a hammer will help with the bulk at the joinings now.

You can also clip a couple threads on the back to help reduce the nubs. Once you clip a thread or two you should be able to press the seam almost in a clock wise direction and get a little pinwheel on the back. It's hard to explain but once you do it a time or two it becomes very easy.
