Cats and Quilting- They Go Hand in Hand (Paw)
#1
I love looking at all these avatars with cats! My cat Theo loves to "help" me quilt even if I'm using my treadle. He holds the fabric so it won't pull against the needle when I'm adding borders to large tops.
How do your cats "help" you quilt? :-)

Just love your cat. I used to have a female like him. She died at age 15 quite some years ago. My other cats have to test the fabric each step of the way by walking/laying on the fabric but they especially love when the quilt is being quilted in the machine. They just have to test the fluffiness and are no respectors of 'you are holding up the production line' when I can't move the quilt in the machine. Once I had quilt drapped over a table and was hand basting the layers together. When I tried to advance the quilt it wouldn't move. I walked around the table and all three were laying on the quilt asleep. What can I say, they are the best testers. Looking forward to seeing what others are doing.

Theo and My Max could be twins! Max is 17 now and still sits on the table when I sew. He is too old to help much but I like to think he is as happy as I am when the machine is humming.

Theo looks like a big help. My kitty, Shayna, helps with all stages. She walks over the fabric choices, giving her opinion on which ones to put in the quilt. Then she teases me with her tail when I cut (I have to be careful to boot her off the cutting table first). When I sew, she has to anchor the fabric I'm trying to work with. I have two baskets in the room that are reserved for her. Sometimes, when she gets tired of me pushing her away, she will lay in one!

Kitties just seem to go with quilting. Rahja always follows me into the workroom - ready to check out fabric choice, inspect stitches as I sew or keep my chair warm when I get up to iron or use the cutting board. His sister Meeko, also joins Rahja in making sure everything stays safe and doesn't blow away by sitting on it to keep it nice and safe. (One reason my fabric is put away in drawers!) I have a puppy too, but mostly she's there for company and to remind me not to work too much at one sitting. When she starts giving me the doggie eyes it's usually time to stop and rest for a while. Has anyone visited this site before?
