I'm totally fascinated by these potato bags! I was at JoAnns today and they have the special TATER batting for $7.99/package but all packaged batting is buy one get one free so that makes batting for ONE potato bag to be $1.00. According to my math skills you can get 4 bags from one package of batting. Also had to buy 100% cotton thread but all thread is 50% off so good deal on that.

Going to make these bags and sell at craft show in December for fundraiser for our quilting group. Any feedback on how they are selling and what we need to know about cost and marketing??? Research I have done shows them running between $6-10 each. Would appreciate any input. Thanks, Dianna

I have had mine for several years, but there have been a lot of posts about them catching on fire even with the special batting.

Sadie, My DD bought one from a 'well known' dept store and it caught on fire!! It seems the ones they were selling were made overseas..you just have to be careful and watch them while they are heating the taters..crafty_linda_b

I have never had any trouble with mine and I used the warm and natural, not knowing better. I use it all the time for breads and sweet potatoes.
