I am a newbie too, and I am horrible at sizing blocks. I know how frustrating that can be. The good news is you are super creative, so you have tons to fall back on.

I love your avatar ! Is there a pattern ? I would love to do this for my mom for Mother's Day.

If you want really simple, you can do an uneven 9-patch. That way, you only have to cut some of the charm squares and the blocks can be set off with a plain alternating block or sashing.

Here is what I came up with......two are abit larger than 12.5 , but I would rather be a little larger than smaller. :-D

I Absolutely LOVE the Avitar quilt! hat a talent! I know as a newbie, I have had some issues, too. I have seen some real cute tutorials on Missiouri Quilt Company..........just glance around there one day and see some cute ideas! Good luck.......keep up the great work!!
