I HATE cheater quilts! I keep telling myself not to buy anymore and I still buy them occasionally. I was trying to cut the blocks for one today and it is so crooked!!!! I am going to have to cut it down in size instead of what the directions say just to get it straight. That means the whole quilt will have to be resized. There is a fenced border around one of the pictures and it slants at least 3/4 of an inch. I really love the beautiful panels.( I bought a ton of them in Lancaster). What do you all think of the cheater blocks and panels? Do they drive you crazy?

    I've never had that problem.

I've learned to check to see if they are printed on-grain before buying them.

I just got finished doing a cheater quilt using a baby boy panel. It worked out just fine and am pleased with the results. Never had trouble using cheater quilts. Like them when I need to do a gift fast.

I had a piece of cheater cloth fabric that I gave my friend to quilt. She just got a long arm and stitched in the ditch and did special stitches in the middle of the larger squares. It came out great.

It was great for practice and she couldn't hurt it. It is going on my granddaughter's bed at our house. She loves it! I just have to finish binding it!

I have to admit that I don't like cheater quilts but they are a good way to practice quilting.

I haven't tried to use blocks from them. I just bought one so that I could practice FMQ and not worry about messing up my piece work!

cheaters mean you don't need to cut apart.. just quilt! Trying to redo means booboo's and headaches!

Some panels are very beautiful, and you can really be creative and make it your own, I don't think they are cheater, I think it is just a different type of quilt
