Great idea for how you're using it. And the coloring the items themselves will tickle them to death!

If it were to fade a little after many washings, they could have the pleasure of coloring it again. It's a good idea to stabilize the the fabric with freezer paper on the back before doing the coloring to keep it from puckering under the force of the crayon. If the design is small, you'll want to sharpen the crayons often. Here's an example someone posted showing a border design she is doing with crayons and embroidery: http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...s-t195717.html
Why not just buy the crayola fabric crayons? The colors last a loooooooooong time.

Oh! what pretty fabric. The colors will not wash away with fabric sharpies...where did you purchase the fabric...and where do you purchase the sharpies? Thanks for sharing.

Where did you find this, is it a Kauffman or what? I want some to make those little makeup bags, for the grandaughters, it would also look good with hot pink and zebra fabric mixed in... I love it...

You're right, it is cute and begs to be colored in.

I bought a large assortment of Sharpies at OfficeMax a few years back. You might have luck there - or at other office supply stores, especially now with all the back-to-school shopping.
