I'm planning to visit my San Jose, CA daughter sometime in early 2011. I was looking for a time when I might find a quilt show going on and there is the show in San Mateo Feb. 24-26, 2011. Have any of you gone to this show in past years? Would you reccomend it? Is it mainly quilting or mainly crafts? I welcome your opinion. Thanks.

this is everything including quilting, sewing, and various other crafts. my friends and i have been to the san mateo and sacramento version and they are the same. we love this show. it is all about the vendors, but many have quilts to show. if you just want the regular quilt show, this isn't it. if you want to see, touch, smell? all about quilting and sewing, this is it. lots of fun.

while in san jose check out the textile museum. they often have quilt exhibits.

    enjoy your trip.

here is the web site for the show http://www.eventcrazy.com/San-Mateo-...ewing-Festival

Here's a link to their website looks like mostly crafting. I live in San Jose and usually only go to the one in Santa Clara in October. Didn't know San Mateo had one. I'll be watching this to see what other say. Just may have to go to it.

When I visited her in summer 09 we went to a nice shop called the Quilters Nest, in Mountain View I think. What shops would you recommend that are close to San Jose?

Prairie Quilts on Camden Ave is nice and the women are really helpfull.
There's also Eddies Quilting Bee in Sunnyvale.
I know there are some in Fremont but never get up that way.
There's also a couple in Gilroy that are really cute shops and very nice people.

Mine won't commute we live 3 miles from our business. When he was working for the mercedes dealer we still were only 2 miles. He hates traffic. Maybe we can all make plans to meet renicat while she's here and you can ride down with your husband.
