Default Size comparison FW vs Janome Jem/Platinum

I am researching for a machine to take RVing with me. I have read thru a past posting regarding what machines quilters are using in their RV's. I am wondering about the size of the FW & the Janome Jem. How comparable in size are they? I have seen the FW's in person and know they are quite tiny but mighty! lol I am wondering if the Janome Jem/Platinum are about the same size. Also, are the machines computerized or mechanical?
    Thanks for your input!

I have a FW and a Janome Gem. I like them both for different reasons. My Janome is not computerized. Wtih a FW you will only be able to do a straight stitch. I have a Brother XR 7700 that I got from Costco.com and I really like it. I have one for our condo and another one for here. It weighs about 11 lbs, comes with walking foot, etc, go to Costco.com and take a look. For the price it is really nice. It has really high ratings too.

    Hello,
I have them standing here side by side, a white FW, a black FW and Janome Jem Silver. th white FW is the smallest , then the black and then the Janome. I took my blck FW last summer. If you are planning to do more then piecing I would take the Janome Jem as it can do it all even an awesome free motion stitch.

The brother mentioned is on sale at Costco.com until may 6 for $139.99. You won't get dealer support but it's fine since Costco has such a great return policy.
