Default Clealy Perfect Angles or Painters tape?

I have got my eye this product
http://www.cottonpatch.co.uk/acatalo...s-revised.html
the Clearly Perfect Angles to put on my sewing machine.
I can't decide whether to buy it or to stick with marking my machine with painters tape (and hoping I get it in the right place).
Does anyone have any experience of this product? Do you like it? Are you glad you bought it?
Any views would be appreciated.

I use something called the Angler 2 whch is very similar. However, I got one of these from Quilt in a Day, and I really like it. You set the edge in front of the feed dogs, so you don't need a "key" to position it. And they include reuseable adhesive pads to stick it to your machine.

I have a similar product The Angler but find it more annoying than useful. The bobbin for my machine has a slide off top that you drop the bobbin into; you have to realign the angler each time you change a bobbin.

I see mckwilter and I posted at the same time; my angler does use the "key" to align it each time; It says it's a Pam Bono product, so it may not be available any longer.

I haven't used it. About the painter's tape, though. I place a strip of painter's tape on the bed, but I mark it with a permanent marker liner. To get the line exact, I raise the presser foot, lower the needle, place my favorite 6-inch ruler on the bed and move it next to the needle (making sure the lines on it are aligned with my sewing machine bed in all ways), lower the presser foot onto the ruler, then use a permanent marker along the ruler's edge to mark a straight line. The tape does not have to be perfectly aligned because the marker line will be. Works pretty well for me.

If you have a drop in bobbin, this might be a problem as you need to peel it back every time you change the bobbin. Mine got fuzzies on the sticky side and wouldn't lay flat. Until then, it worked great (I had the Angler 2)

I don't have a drop in bobbin so I am thinking I won't have to move anything to change a bobbin with either the Clearly Perfect Angles or the Sew Straight (I can't get the Angler in the UK, it does appear to be out of production now).

I hadn't heard of the Quilt in a Day Sew Straight. I have just googled and found that I can get it in the UK. This might be useful to easily move between machines.

Re the painters tape, the tip to use a marker pen is just brilliant. I have been using my ruler to ascertain where the 1/4 is and then really struggling to get the tape to lie right up against it, marking first would solve that problem.

Thank you for all the advice. I am going to give the ruler and marker pen a go and then see if I still want to buy a pre-made device at a later date.

Just a tip about marker pens (which you probably know already). If you want to remove permanent marker pen from something, draw over it with a non-permanent pen and just wipe it off. I do this to mark my rulers if needed and it always works for me.

I am still preferring using several layers of painter's tape.

I also draw a line on painter's tape and position it on my clear machine surround. Be aware that painter's tape on antique machines with decals may damage the decals when you peel it off.

SOPHIEBERNINA- Thanks for the tip regarding removing a mark made by a permanent marking pen. My bobbin is a drop-in and I have to remeasure the quarter inch every time I change it. I will give this a try. Thanks again.

I have had The Angler 2 and Clearly Perfect Angles. I much much prefer The Angler but it's easier to swap out bobbins while using the Clearly Perfect Angles. So I keep that one on my machine.

eta: if I had a front loading or side loading bobbin I would stick with The Angler.
