I have used a few different types but these are what I currently use - although, I do want to try the board method where there's no clamps at all.. lots of threads on here with how-to info.

I found some huge clips at the dollar store that work really well. You might want to check them out.

I bought 4" clamps at the 99˘ store and they are perfect. I also have some smaller ones to hold the backing down when I'm spray basting. I stopped pinning some years ago. Use Sharon Schambers board method to roll the back & top on a table and I can do the whole thing by myself. And it hold perfectly, no creases or tucks on the back.

I cannot use the “office type” black clips that have been shown here. I have carpal tunnel and cannot open them to go over the edge of the table. These are the clamps I used before I got my longarm. They are so nice, no squeezing. However, you must have the right thickness on the table you use. (The clamps are about 3/4”). My table is the brown one you can get from Office Depot. If you get the thick white table top the clamps will not work. I bought the clamps from a quilt store.
