So sorry for you. I wonder why they are closing.

It is in Burnham. It is the one you probobly went to. Either that or Harrisburg.

If you are so inclined e-mail Joann corporate and ask them to keep it open. I stopped by tonight and they said public outrage has changed their minds before.

I'll email my daughter with this thread also to be sure she is aware of this! There is some good to ordering online but then not everybody has access to a computer. And I like to feel the fabric.

My daughter just called me from Joann's - she said it was real busy! She asked if the 'rumor' was true and they told her yes, it is. But the clerk had no idea why. She said they were in the top 3rd of that size JoAnn's. and they were really always busy. BUT my daughter said there was a 'help wanted' sign on the door! Talk about job security!

They just opened a huge new super store in Scotsdale, AZ. I was visiting in Kansas recently and went in their store, which I used to shop. I asked if they were closing and the woman (manager) said no! She did go on to say that smaller stores, that are nearer to more/larger fabric/ quiltshops might be closing. Depends on the area.
She said that there was another company which the name is very close, that has indeed filed bankruptcy, but, she said it is not Joannes.

The Jo Ann stores here are not closing [ yet] but everything is diferent . I was making those tied fleese blankets for cheerleading grandchildren and it was 50%off so i wasnt trying to use 2 coupons. I needed to make 2 blankets and the material streaches so I askd her if she would give me 2 yds red and 2 yards of navy for their school colors .but instead of just getting 4 yds of red and 4 yds of navy i wanted 2 yd red 2 yds navy and another 2 yds red and 2yds navy. She wouldnt cut it I had to buy the one cut of 4 yds re and 4 yds navy. There was no line behind me and it wasnt like I was trying to use 2 coupons. Isaid if i get 2 yds red and then2 yds navy and then turn around go back in {no line] then you will give me 2 more cuts of 2yds red and 2 yds navy. She said yes. People come in and get 1/8yd this and 1/8 yd that and they will stand there and cut for anhour but a customer that spends big money on material there they wont budge. I could have said cut me 2 yds and 2 yds and when she was done i could have sad of i forgot i need to make another one my mistake [Ha Ha] I better make another blanket give me 2 more yds of re and 2 more yds of navy.I guess you have to be rotten today. Thank God I bought 2 rooms full of material when it was cheap[Like 1$ yd when Hancock fabric store closed so I didnt care . Still its good deals with the 50%off copon compared with 10.00 yd at small quilt shops.

They were going to close the Joann' closest to me about two years ago. Everybody started emailing the website and they changed their minds. It's still open. Be the squeaky wheel.

The Joann coupons say 1 cut of fabric, I'm sure that's why they wouldn't do it.

I sure don't like to hear that! I don't shop much though at Joann's these days, service is terrible and like you said, take a number at the cutting table and wait. I get so disgusted waiting and waiting and not even a smile that I just don't go in there, I go mainly to Hancocks or to a local sewing store. With Walmart not carrying fabric and our local Alco phasing it out, it leaves us with less and less choices. Everything changes.

Maybe they'll change their minds about closing the Joann's.
Our Walmart has been told several times they will be loosing their material when they remodel which at the latest info is next summer. I've noticed that their fabric is not as nice as it used to be. It seems thinner and a loser weave that it had been.
