Has anyone made adult bibs. My mother is in really bad shape now and has been the past 6-7 wks. I was asked to make her some bibs. Does anyone have any suggestions? I would appreciate any help.

I made bibs for an eleven yr old out of flannel backed vinyl tableclothes . cut a rectangle the proper length, cut a dip on one end and used bias tape for strings. At the nursing home hand towels and small bath towels are used wide bias tape used for strings.

Sorry to hear about your mom. As far as the bibs....could you use a lobster bib for a pattern??? They're made for adults so it would be the right size.

If you do a google search there are tutorials on how to make them with towels.

I made some for some of the ladies at the assisted living center. My daughter brought home one that I could use as a guide. Had I realized how simple in nature this one was made, I wouldn't have needed it. The one she brought me was basically just a rectangle with a loop to go over their head. She told me that many of the residents wouldn't be able to tie loose ends. I can't remember what the exact measurements were. It seems that I made them about 7 1/2 - 8 inches wide and about 15 - 18 inches long. The loops were attached about 2 1/2 inches from the outer edge on both sides of the top. I just used regular cotton fabric and double layered it. I used cotton twill tape for the neck loop. Eazy peazy.

I made some many years ago for a group home. We drew a simple pattern and cut them out of the rubberized waterproof fabric that you can put in baby cribs. There is no fraying, so it's very easy, cut out your shape, and then sew velcro on the back for a closure. We made them long and wide enough to cover the persons front. I've seen them out of hand towels and also bandanas. I bet you'll get lots of responses here! Good luck. (sorry your mom is doing poorly, that's a hard situation to deal with).

PM me your mailing address and I will send you a pattern. I purchased 2 today for my 85 year old father who had open heart surgery 2 weeks ago and was not expected to survive the surgery. We brought him home Thursday evening.

You can use bath towels, cut a neck opening and then use bias tape around the cut area and for the ties.
