I spent most of the day doing free motion on a quilt for my BIL. Oh did I struggle today, broke 3 needles and arrrrr made some mistakes that I got to correct. My old machine, the tension didn't want to cooperate and had to move to my second machine and even struggled with that....I think I struggled because I wanted to get it done today! I think I got a case of burnt out.My dh took me out for an ice cream, said I needed to get out some. That did help. Hope everyone quilting day went well and you got a lot accomplished.

There are always new products to try but I try to avoid gimmicks. I suppose I should just start doing it and see if it works with my normal thimble. Your Oriental fabrics are just gorgeous and you have showcased them so nicely!
Thank you for the compliment. No, I do not use a Sashiko needle, but I also don't put more than 3 'jabs' on my needle at one time. I'm not that consistent - this particular piece had the pattern on the cloth, so was somewhat easier. I bought one, but haven't really used it. I also use a crewel needle - I don't like the length of the Sashiko needle, I have better control with a shorter.

I worked until about 9 and then took a hot bath to work the kinks out of my shoulders, with a glass of wine to work the kinks out of my mind. lol I got almost as far as I wanted to - 6 of the 7 rows of my quilt are put together and the blocks of the last row are mid-construction. Hopefully tomorrow night I can finish the last row and them sew the rows together. I will post a picture the minute it's in one piece.

Rachel, thank you so much for starting this. It has gotten me back to quilting with an enthusiasm that I have not had for quite a while. I have finished three tops in the past two months and that is way more productive than I've been. And thanks to my fellow retreaters - it was fun to follow your progress.

I finished cutting this out last night to start to put together today. It is brown, red and a brown/red/tan stripe to make it look masculine. It is for Mitch. I don't allow him to use the big quilts.

Worked on the back for my first quilt that I've decided to let my dog have since she loves quilts so much. I misjudged how much fabric I needed for the border so I only got 3 sides done. I was showing my husband what the backing and border looked like together and my dog crawled right onto the back lol. Guess she loves it already!
Thanks for having this virtual quilt day. It was the encouragement I needed.

I got a late start today. I got home from work in time to watch the last 5 laps of Nascar race, started reading the Sun. paper on the couch, fell asleep and slept for 1 1/12 hours, ate dinner and finally started quilting. I got 5 of 20 blocks quilted on my Silhouettes quilt done. That makes 12 finished--only 8 more to go. Hopefully I'll get the rest done this week and then on to the binding.

Enjoyed seeing all your work.

Well, didn't get much done. Have to relocate my pp butterfly pattern since mine didn't turn out so good. OH well, had fun anyway.

That block is soooo perfect! It is paper pieced? I love the colours and the shapes!

DWR I am in awe of- too hard for me, but yours looks like it will be a fine example of the type!

I recently traded FQ's for scraps here ion the board and got this awesome piece of black with gold flowers. Had to use it quick! And the DWR is making progress. All of the arcs are pieced, but the fussy hand stitching is taking a while. The third row should be on by bedtime and then only one more row to go. It will be 19" square when complete.

I didn't get a lot done today, but I did achieve my goal - which was to get my butt back into my sewing room. I've been on a knitting kick lately, and had no motivation to sew. I managed to get 2 of my block of the month done (one of the red/blue squares is in the picture). Plus I got started on my BQ quilt. This is going to be a practice quilt when my long arm arrives (this week, I hope). I started with a square focus block, but didn't like it (the bottom border didn't blend well with the rest) so I've turned it into a rectangular BQ.
