Default How would you quilt this D4P I-Spy quilt?

I'm about to sandwich and start quilting this quilt but just wondering what would be the best way to quilt it. I have a Singer 301A and about all I know is SITD and stippling. I have a couple of quilt patterns but haven't learned how to transfer the patterns on to the quilt using the pounce pad which probably wouldn't show up very good on this one anyway with all of the colors. Not in a hurry to finish because it's a gift to my GD for her 2nd birthday in Oct. Just need some guidance. Thanks for the advice. -- Julie

The top is pretty busy. I would just do stippling.

Your quilt turned out very nice. It was fun wasn't it? When I quilted mine I did 1/4 inch on each side of the larger blocks and just one side of the turned small squares. Does that make sense?

I really like your quilt, and I bet it will be a family treasure for your GD. As for quilting, well, it is so pretty anything would do. Maybe you would try the curvy line one. Loss for the name - it is just a wavy line that you run from top to bottom or side to side, corner to corner. Darn, wish I could think of the name, sorry.

No matter what you choose the quilting most likely won't show up very much with so many patterns in the quilt. That might make a good opportunity to stretch your quilting skills. Look up Leah Day's quilting videos and see if something ( or more than one something) grabs you and give it a try.

I would do SITD or an all over large meander. Great D4P I- Spy!

Thanks for all of the suggestions! Murphy- I like your idea but can't quite picture it. I've looked at some of the other quilts you've posted and really admire your talent. You mentioned your favorite books are Material Obsession/s - Are those books very difficult patterns or do they have some basics as well?

I also like the wavy design Marti mentioned. I think I will play around in the boarders area...I put a light 3" polka dot boarder around it and it will have a green/turquoise binding. Whatever I do...I know my baby girl g'daughter will love it cause it came from her Nana!

Here is a pic of her on her 1st birthday. Isn't she precious!!!

I would just do some diagonal straight line quilting. I think the straight lines would compliment the blocks well.
