The best item I have found is "Printed Treasures ink jet Printable Fabric Sew-on-White". You can get it at JoAnn's, it is currently on sale on line 50% off. If you follow the directions the label will last. I made a quilt for my DGS about 5 years ago and after repeated washings the label is still very readable and the pictures are still clear. Good luck....I think the label is important.. I always write words of love and encouragement on them.

I always use the Printed Treasures for my quilt labels and they work out great. Since most of my quilts are for babies, they need to be machine washable on a regular basis. I would never use any of the products that require dry cleaning.

June Taylor says it is washable if you do not use detergent. Printed Treasures is what you want.

I researched the products a year ago and had great success with "Printed Treasures." I included pictures from space science as well as a label and had no problems with machine washing with warm water and Tide.

Bottom line, those printer inks will fade over time. The quilts will outlive us, and we want those future owners to be able to read them. IMHO, the only way to get a lasting label is to embroider one, by hand or machine.

A removable label will be lost. Murphy's Law: If a thing can go wrong, it will.

Sounds like Printed Treasurers is the way to go. I'll have to see if my local JoAnns has it. Thanks!

I did the same thing a few days ago. Just grabbed the package and did not see "Dry Clean Only" until I got home. Too late to return then, needed the label so I dragged out a scrap of muslin and a piece of freezer paper and made my own. Returned the package to J-A and got my $$ back. It is so easy with the muslin that I am going to continue to do that - I can also add a scanned photo to the label, if I wish.
