You might check to see if there is a Veteran's Hospital or children's hospital in the area. Many times they have groups that make quilts and lap robes for their patients.

I live in Independence... unfortunately the Calico Cut ups is no longer around. The suggestion to look at the Kansas City Regional Quilt Fest for current guilds with contacts is great. They try to keep that list current. If you have any trouble, feel free to contact me.
