I am trying to make a mitered corner within the quilt. I have tried sewing the corners on a 45 degree angle only to have it make a pocket. I am trying to make like a frame around objects within a wall hanging. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

And here are a ton of you-tube videos on the subject:

You tube has a good tutorial. The one put up by Penny 123 made my first mitered corners a breeze. Which was just last month..

Gaigai thank you for putting link up because I haven't done that yet

I wish I could explain how to do it but I can't seem to put it into words. I do it, just don't know how to tell someone else to. Sorry, but I agree, once you get it all worked out you will do it all the time. Best of luck :)

Forming a pocket sounds like you are stitching into your seam allowance. You have to make sure you stop sewing a 1/4 from the end so you don't stitch into the seam allowance where all 3 pieces of fabric meet.

Thank you I watched the videos and it really helped. I was so close to doing it the way Penny did. But i just sewed right to the end instead of leaving the 1/4 of an inch.
