Default Cornerstones

I'm using cornerstones in a sampler quilt. The cornerstones are the same fabric as the larger border. If I put cornerstones in the border around the outside of all the squares, I think they will blend into the like fabric in the next border. Can I not put cornerstones in the outside border? I do not want to add another border in between. Need some advice/suggestions.

of course you can... it's your quilt and your design decision.

I would put a small sample of both ways on a design board, or lay it out on a bed and see which way you like. You can certainly skip the cornerstones on the outmost sashing if you like that the best.
