I've been cutting a lot of my fabrics-less then 1/3yd pieces, into 2.5" strips and throwing them into a basket under the cutting table.

I'm wanting to bag them up or roll them up so that it will be easier to grab a set without digging through the entire basket. And honestly I get a brain freeze if I have too many choices and can't get started.

What do you all do? Do you roll up, bag up, or dump all together?

Do you cut up fabrics that are from the same line (like you get with a store bought jelly roll) or use a variety?

I find I have a lot of different colors that don't really go with anything else. And I find that a lot of my colors are pretty close to each other, not enough variety.

I sort all my "stuff" by color and then when I need to put something together it is easy to pick. I do not like the random picking out of a bucket (smile). I roll and put in baggies or fold neatly and put in a container that holds them. Good luck with this.

Buy some brights and opposite colors and throw them in and then you can pick at random. For ideas, look at "laundrybasketquilts.com.

I make jelly rolls and if I have more that one pattern i roll them all together, sometimes I sew them together to make long long strips then roll them up fasten with a fine pin and put it in a drawer.I just keep adding them from anything left over and when I have a nice matching set (colour or pattern) I add plains to them and make something from that. when you use plain colours it is amazing how colours that don't look right together with other patterns turn out fine with the plain colours just make sure you have plain colours to blend in tomatch the colours in your patterns you can't go wrong

I store mine in plastic totes-shoe box size.easy to pick thru and can be covered while in storage

I've done several lasagna quilts with my less then WOF cuts. It was fun just randomly sewing the smaller pieces together and rolling them up until I had enough to make the quilt. I used up a lot of my fat quarters for that project.

I was tired of my fat quarters, had them in my fabric stash and I'd grab it thinking it was enough to do a project and then get annoyed when it was only a fat. I bought them years ago when the LQS was having a big fat quarter bonaza. If I'd been smart I would have put them all in a separate bin, but wasn't thinking.
