Here is an idea that has been floating around for some time in my head. Look in your attic, flea markets, relatives, etc. for a head board or foot board that is interesting. Attach brackets to hold a rod to each side. Attach hooks - heavy duty to back. You may also want to paint or refinish if neccesary. Voila, a recycled unique quilt holder for an unusual space on the wall. I do have a foot board off of an old bed that I will be using for this project. I was thinking of adding a mirrow tile or picture frame in center and candle holder to each side or even adding side lights instead of candle holders. The possiblities are endless. Another idea is to use an old weathered board. I was lucky one day of being in the right place. As a truck was going around the corner in the country, an old weathered board about 2ft by 5ft fell off the back. The guy kept on going, he never came back and I could not chase him down.

Is this attached to the wall or free standing?

It can go either way. It would make a nice headboard attached to the wall above the bed. When I mentioned this idea to some others around here, one lady had a big area above the stairs that she was trying to fill and was going to do it with a head board of some relatives that she could not throw away. Someone else was going to use the idea with the mirrows/candle holders, but use the holder for bar towels above their bar in the basement.
