Default Custom Quilt Die but please no Accuquilt...

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone had any kind of a contact into a business that could make a custom quilt die? I have worked with Accquilt in the past to have a custom die made but won't do that again. From what I can see, they tweaked the die and the pattern and put them up for sale on their site as their own.

All I know is that the Accuquilt dies are called, "knife dies"...

Does anyone have any thoughts on where I might go other than Accuquilt??

Thank you!!
Heather

I've had die cutters for years and have had many custom dies made at various places. They are actually called 'Steel Rule Dies'. Never heard them refered to as 'knife dies'.
I've had them made by Accucut, Ellison:

I've also had dies made by Cross-Cuts, but it doesn't look like they are doing custom work anymore.
Actually, your local printer can probably tell you where to get a steel rule die made locally. The problem is that commercial printer's dies don't have a full foam layer and would not be suitable for use with fabric. You could make it work, but it would be a pain.
PM me if you have more questions.

Hi Paper Princess!

Thank you SO much! This was JUST the information I needed to get!!! The last die cutter I talked to referred to them as "knife dies" but I haven't been able to find anything with that name online so he was probably just not informed about what I had!

YEAH!

I am going to do some research and will definitely PM you if I get stuck. Your experience is invaluable!

Thank you!!!!
Heather

Accucut and Accuquilt are the same company.

Try joining the accucutquilters group on groups.yahoo.com . Seems to me someone on that group has had custom dies made by other than Accuquilt.
