I'm looking for some gift ideas for a friend who is interested in civil war reproduction quilts. She is an advanced quilter who has already completed a gorgeous Dear Jane.
I found a book on Amazon called the Civil War Love Letter Quilt by Rosemary Youngs for her but am still looking for Christmas/birthday ideas.
Thank you in advance,
Retro

I have the "Remembering Adelia: Quilts Inspired by Her Diary" book by Kathleen Tracy and really like it. It covers Adelia Bennett's diary for the year 1861 and has 12 CW quilt projects in it. It's a really nice book with the diary info interspersed with the quilting projects. Well worth the $25 it was, in my opinion.

They have project books that go along with the books. I just went to Barnes and Noble, but lots of places have them

I don't know if this is what you are looking for. But worth a shot. There is also another book to go along with Dear Jane. It is Dear Hannah.

bebe,
you're the best! I heard of the Farmer's wife and will have to be on the lookout for that one, too. She collects Judie Rothermel (one of our fellow peas in the pod!!) and may already have her books. Every single fabric I picked out for her at the local quilt shop was J. R. for Marcus Bros  so I had to ask for help :!: :!:

Hey Retro,
I have Quilts from the Civil War and Civil War Women both by Barbara Brackman. I like both books.
Also, I just recently finished a little CW Repro wallhanging by Carol Hopkins Designs (Nancy's Glory). No books, but great patterns for wallhangings, perfect for gifts.
Here's the link to her website:

There are two different books kinda like the Dear Jane book, with 121 blocks. They are
The Civil War Diary Quilt: 121 Stories and The Quilt Blocks They Inspired by Rosemary Youngs
and
The Civil War Love Letter Quilt: 121 Quilt Blocks Inspired by Love and War by Rosemary Youngs
Like I said, these are similar to the Dear Jane blocks, and are really beautiful. I'm dying to start one in honor of my 3rd gr-grandpa who was at Appamattox.
