Do we have any ladies here in the process of making a Dear Jane? I'm not.... but I've been thinking on it for a couple of years, on and off. hehe I do have an Underground Railroad started for myself, so I would definitely finish that before beginning something like Jane.

I did, just now, sign up on the Dear Jane mailserv email list! I hope that proves to be inspirational for me. :D

Anyone else?

Check out the link, the cyber sew starts in January, it's gonna be a blast! There was also a DJ Christmas block swap, you should check that out. The blocks are great!

The whole Jane quilt is so intimidating!! I don't know how to paper piece, OR applique! I'd be learning an awful lot.... LOL

I WANT to have done the quilt, but it's scary to think of getting started.

If I do it, I want those new Moda civil war fabrics!!!!!!!!!!

Brazen,
I am clueless about pp and applique, too so dont' feel bad. I'm not sure I'll be able to keep up with the ambitious schedule but will be glad to challenge myself with some new techniques. I will do my best to keep up and do hope you'll join in. :D

Retro, I'm thinking about it! I'm REALLY 'famous' for beginning quilting projects and never finishing. It's a real problem. LOL! And this would be the largest undertaking ever for me... which if my personal history continues... I won't finish. LOL

I am slowly reading thru that huge thread about everyone's plans and how-to's... that's goading me on to try it. I guess I would need to order the template triangles or whatever... I want the book and not the software, but it doesn't sound like the book is very helpful. :( Which are you going to use?

i hope you join in. i'm going to try and make some of the more challenging blocks easier to put together.

i'm big on paper piecing since the pieces are so tiny it helps with the precision.

the plus side to the jane quilt is its very hand sewing friendly, since thats how she put it together, so i'm sure as we get going some of the really tough blocks i'll just hand piece.

the software is nice because it can print out all the patterns for the block and it has many variations on the blocks.

you could certainly use the book and trace off the patterns.

i will be putting up the paper piecing order for the blocks for the people who use the book.

We have alot of paper piecers on here. Bearisgray has been redrafting some of the Dear Jane blocks using her folding paper. Check out her PDA(personal diary and announcements section).

http://www.quiltingboard.com/posts/list/420/23019.page

I plan to do some redrafting of the blocks using my cut down method of piecing. When I have time over the next few weeks. I will start a thread just for the redrafts as soon as I can. I hope to have a few of them done before the Cyber Sew in Jan.

Klue on the Dear Jane threads also is going to redraft to give those who want to learn to do the DJs by paper piecing a chance to try it. You can pm her or let her know on one of the DJ threads and I am sure she would be happy to help.

Hope this gives you some ideas!

edit: I see you posted the same time I did Klue! LOL
