I have a Viking Designer 1 that I have had in storage for about 2 years. I got it out and now the touchscreen doesn't respond when I touch it. Has this happened to anyone? I love this machine and felt like I was in a huge slump not being able to use it - heartbroken to have it treat me so poorly!!

Did you have it stored in a climate controlled enviornment? It has computer parts that may have been damaged by too much heat or cold.

I had it stored in the cabinet I purchased for it, in my home. Perhaps the heat and humidity did some damage?

You will probably have to take to shop for new screen. They aren't cheap.

Just got my Designer 1 out of shop, had the same problem. Had to replace the entire touch screen, I guess static can cause them to go out. They advised me to clean entire surface of machine with pledge multi surface cleaner, spray on rag and wipe machine down.

My touch screen malfunctioned several years back when it fortunately was still under warranty. It lit up but did not respond. If it wasn't replaced under the warranty, it would have costed me plenty.
