Default Did you use your Accuquilt on the latest BH mystery quilt?

Having made a Bonnie Hunter Mystery quilt before, I know that accuracy is stressed--which is why I plan to do the latest one (to 'up' my piecing game). I'd like to use my Accuquilt for cutting. She says she doesn't release the dies needed so no one guesses the block before hand. Anyway, if you've figured out the dies needed, could you share? thanks!

I worked mine up a couple of days ago.

I don't have the 1-1/2" half square triangle die yet. You would need that in the corner combination block and for the flying geese. Also for the flying geese you need a 3" quarter square triangle.

I like queen size quilts. I'm increasing the block size to 12". Might need a border so it will be queen.

I will use CUT (FINISHED)

Corner units
2-1/2 (2) square
2-1/2 (2) HST
4-1/2 (4) HST

Geese
4-1/2 (4) QST
2-1/2 (2) HST

9
Center 9 Patch are tricky, will be one third of 4 = 1.33 plus SA .5 is 1.83, slightly less than 1-7/8.

Coral Sashing units will be cut 2-1/2 x 6-1/2 (2x6), then use 2-1/2 (2) HST. Since we know they are connected end to end, i plan to use the (4) " QST in the middle instead.

There is a FB group called accuquilt and beyond and quite a few are making that quilt and sharing which dies they used.

thanks to both of you! I have the 12" Qube and Qube Companion and hadn't even thought of upsizing to 12" block--which makes much better sense to me anyway! Thanks again.

I have the BHMQ started and resting for me in a nice tub on the shelf. I used my accuquilt for some of it and that is not the best thing. If you try to mix accuquilt cut stuff with stuff you cut yourself, you will lose the accuracy. I think it is all or none. And I had all the dies. I'm just not that careful, I guess.

12" block update: when I did the size math, I left off the sashing.

5 x 6 on point 50 block layout (Bonnie's original)

12" blocks with 2" sashing, the quilt finishes at 99 x 119

Just so you know.

I am NOT doing the BH mystery but several in my guild are and then gathered and cut pieces using an Accuquilt. The pieces went together well and actually fit with fewer errors than those cut by hand. I saw their boxes of little pieces and sub sections for the quilt and ..... for me I am glad I did not bite on this one. I am positive this will be a beauty when finished but not on my agenda. Cut on and quilt on board members!
