I cut toward me, know that is wrong, but I have better control. Just have to be careful.

I have 2 hands and the cutter rolls both directions. So it is whatever the situation calls for - away from me, toward me, right or left hand.

Sometimes I start out toward me because it seems like I have more leverage - but if that didn't work, I slide back away from me (a second pass) - so I guess it is how the particular project feels at the time. Of course I am still a newbie at this stuff and probably have a lot more (ahem) habits to break.

Always away from me, I take breaks to so I can stretch my back. I always did it this way, to protect from accidentally cutting myself if it should slip, and also if there should be a nick, that it doesn't pull the fabric

I go from bottom to top (away from me).

I would like to know why I couldn't leave a comment on the MSNBC quilt show that had a quilt with a pregnant woman on it. Since I couldn't, I'll leave it here.

I don't go to a quilt show to find out about the ills of the world. Yes, a woman's body is beautiful but she covers it up in public. Instead of trying to show a cause in a quilt, wouldn't it be better to actually do something about it (money, volunteer, teach, etc.)
