I have a directional border with words. Which direction should it face? I have tried it words readable toward the quilt and words readable from the outside, but can't figure out which way is better.

i always prefer words to be readable when looking at the quilt. just as you would write them onto the border yourself. the side borders too, just turn the quilt to "write". in other words, the bottom of the writing would be towards the center of the quilt on each border.

I would prefer them to face to the outside edge. Good question!

My preference is readable facing inward, not toward the binding.

Three answers and two different opinions. Are you ready for a different opinion even though will require more fabric? I would put all 4 borders so that they are all readable from top to bottom as though they were on a page with the center of the page cut out (the center of the page would be your quilt top). Assuming that the words on the fabric run from one selvage to the other, the top and bottom borders would be cut from selvage to selvage. The two side borders would be cut along the selvage. So, it would require a long piece of fabric to cut the two side borders.

Thank you for your opinions! I'm not sure which one I'll take. I'll keep looking at the borders both directions and probably flip a coin unless someone convinces me one way or the other. LOL. I love this board! Everyone is so helpful.
