Hello everyone, just wanted to check in. Don't know if anyone had realized I hadn't been or not but thought I would update. I think I am going to be a winter quilter, I packed my stuff all up the other day so I could have my living room back. Just haven't been in the mood to sew. In my free time I have my nose stuck in a book. I have read about 72 already this year. Anyway, update on the stepdad and chainsaw accident. He has healed completely with no problems just another conversation piece (his scar) on his knee. Everywhere we go he has to pull up the pants and show it off and tell the whole detailed story....lol. Anyway it only took about 2-3 weeks and you would have never known anything happened. He is a tough little devil! However, you know they say everything happens for a reason. Well seeing how I was monitoring his blood pressure and everything with the accident, I started noticing his blood pressure would be low even though he doctored for high. Followed up with doc and put him through the whole blood work thing and all. Well his kidney functioning was down. It seemed to be only working about a third of normal. They took him off some of the diurectics and retested and it came up some. They then sent him for a scan of the kidney and found he has some blockage in the vessels that go into the kidney. We are waiting for them to tell us when, but they want to put stints or balloons in to open them up and get the blood flowing back in. They said it should improve the functioning but at worst case it should help prevent him from having to have dialysis or something of that sort later down the road. I guess it should keep from decreasing the function any further.....If he wouldn't have cut his leg I wouldn't have been watching him as close and may not have found this out before it was a big problem. They say where he was on the several diurectics for a couple of years didn't probably help. They can dry up your kidneys fast. Anyway he is still on the go constantly and isn't sick, just tires easier. As a matter of fact I allowed him....lol to use the chainsaw again to cut down a few small tree limbs under my supervision....lol. He was like a little child with a reward.
Along with other things, I have been busy getting son ready for school. It started Monday. He is a big freshman. He is my only child and man is it depressing to think of where the years have went. He really likes it and has turned over a new leaf of wanting to learn and do good in school. I am excited about that. He has always done good in school but just only wanted to do what was necessary and didn't always do things I knew he was capable of doing.
Enough boring everyone, I still get on and read all the posts as regular as I can. Hopefully with all this fabric I have I will get bit by the quilting bug again soon.....lol.

Aww nuts toni I was wondering where you've been. Glad to hear your stepdad is doing so much better and great news that you caught his blood pressure! Sorry things have gotten in the way lately and stifled the quilting bug for you but I think it happens to most of us. Keep checking in and telling us how you are doing and I'm quite sure you'll be bit by that darn quilting bug good and hard soon!!

Hi Toni, I have been missing you. Glad your stepdad is mended and that his kidney problems were detected early. You're such a good daughter, mom, wife. I know what you mean about the quilting. I have weeks where that's all I do, and then weeks that I don't sew at all. I would sew less if it was scattered all over the place or in the way. I'm kindof a neat freak, even in my sewing room.

Glad everything seems to have happened for a reason. Just keep a close eye on him when he's using the chain saw, probably keeps him young, just being busy.

Thanks for checking in Toni. I am so glad your step dad is healing so fast. Keep checking in even if you don't feel like sewing.

We may be quilting friends.........but "FRIENDS" is the important part.
