I'm now up to 72 6" (unfinished) squares. With all the piecing it's taking forever! I'm loving how the colors are turning out though - mainly blues, greens and purples. I'm thinking that once I get a ton more made, that I will lay them all out on the floor to decide exactly what to do with them - I'm thinking that just sewing them all together will be too busy - maybe putting 4 squares together and doing sashing (which I will need help with btw!) will be better.

You are about 1/2 way there. Keep making them.
I like the idea about your sashing to break up the blocks. It will give you a more calming effect which I like.
Get out your pencil and graph paper and plan it out when you get more blocks done and you can see the size and how many blocks you want for the size you are planning.

Wow 72! I'd say you're doing great! Can we see a progress pic? I've only done these as a cushion and they are fun but do take a while... Cheering you on from the sidelines - go, go, ra ra ra! :-D

I'd LOVE to show pics but our digital camera isn't working. :? I would love for you all to see how they look.

I have kinda cheated though - I started out using mostly scrap that I got from tarbender, then started adding fq's and other pieces that I cut up just for this. Dh thinks I should just cut squares out of the fabric, but if it's not pieced like the rest, it won't look right! What's funny is that years ago I gave a quilter-friend a hard time for cutting up fabric just to sew it together again.... and that's just what I'm doing now!

That's what we all do so you're in good company! My Dad doesn't get it either but when I ask him why he walks round hitting a little white ball in front of him only to pick it up at the end and put it in his pocket, he shuts up! (He's a golf fanatic!)

What's made it fun is that I've been sneaking in small pieces here and there with fun things for ds to find - there's a lightning mcqueen and mater, a frog, a fly (from the frog fabric), tigger, a tiny mouse, a monkey... I forget what else. I guess that makes it a bit of an eye spy quilt! Hopefully it won't be obvious when you just casually look at it.
