Do "Real Quilters" Do This?

I'm not alone I see... I have ideas for the different family members and start collecting for each of their quilts... grandchildren now will be for their weddings.. others are just because something had sparked an idea for that particular person... I am always searching for ideas or material that will set me off with another quilt..

- I spend too much time online at sites like Fat Quarter Shop and Keepsake Quilting looking at fabric.
- I search online for independent fabric stores and quilting shops to visit whenever I'm in a new place.
- I have more ideas than time (or skill) to carry them out.
- I'm planning quilts for the nieces mentioned above, even though they probably will have to wait years to get them. I'm also wondering who else I can give a quilt to.
So, tell me, do real quilters do all these things?

If you're like me, you also discovered that the sewing skills you already had are most helpful, but the degree of precision required in some aspects of quilting is greater than in things like kids costumes, for instance. I had gotten really lazy over the years and now am having to pay much closer attention to stitching perfectly (Ha!) straight seams.
On the other hand, I'm not intimidated by bias seams, which I hear all the time about how difficult or scary they are (why?).

It's just such a nice addiction to have. You're doing something creative, productive, useful, beautiful and all kinds of other lovely adjectives. Just think, you could have become addicted to gambling, or other such nonsense. This is something wonderful that will add creativity, growth and meaning to any potentially empty spaces in your life, and you will leave behind you beautiful quilts and similar things that people will love and enjoy. Just think of the good you can do! But remember, you have to tear yourself away from giving long enough to make yourself a quilt. Not that I've done that myself yet, but I am "intending to do it" very soon. Possibly this year. If I don't end up giving it away. The last time I made myself a quilt, my sister saw it, fell in love with it, and, well, the rest is history. But I will make myself a quilt and keep it. As soon as I get the rest done. . .

Yes! Welcome to the addicting world of quilting. I have tendonitis/tendonosis in both wrists & hands from quilting to much. I still can't quit. Wear my braces at night...quilt as much as I can in the day. So many quilts, so little time! I really am sure I live long enough to make all the quilts I have planned. LOL On the days my hands are really bad I have to take a break. It is terrible! I pace, fidget, complain, etc. Yep! It is an addiction. Oh, and I can't go to a store that has fabric without heading straight for that dept. before I do anything else. I am wondering who to will my stash to. LOL
