Scrap quilts are my favorite.
They have such a warm & homey look.

yes--I use my scraps..for applique..many scrap quilts and I just used a bunch making a donation item..which was a tablerunner, 4 placemats and 4 napkins and a bag. I am trying to empty my scrap bin so I can start all over so the scraps have been flying around here lately!

I use mine. I make a scrappy quilt for the granddaughters and great nieces that's a square in a square with black sashing. I only have to buy the black fabric. The other fabrics all come from the scrap bin.

I'm also working on a series of small monthly wall hangings. I might pull a fat quarter for the background but the rest almost always comes from the scrap bins.

I have made two full size log cabin quilts and two twin size string quilts all from the scrap bins.

And yet the scrap bins are still crammed full!!

Truthfully, no, never. I don't like scrap quilts (please don't hate me, they're just not my style). I honestly have no idea why I keep the "shavings" from my quilts. Probably some deep seated motherly teaching about "waste". So, if you define 'scrap' as smaller than an index card, the answer is no.

How do you all wind up with scraps that are big enough to make quilts out of anyway? I can understand bookmarks, coasters, and small items like that, but full sized quilt blocks? How big are the scraps you use?

Ghostrider, Appliques, do you do any applique work? Well don't through your scraps away get Ms Graces address and send your scraps to her.
Fabric is to expensive to through any of it away.

I have a bunch of triangles left over from the last project. You know, where you sew a little square to a big square on the corner and then cut diagonally? So while those triangles are stuck together, I sewed them together. Now I got a Bunch of squares ready to go with the strips that were leftover. Since it is Connecting threads fabric, I think I'll dig out the other scraps from kits of theirs I have done and sew those traingles together. Scrappy happy!
