I made a list for 2018 and did pretty good sticking with it. I did add things as the year went along. I did find it helped me stay on track.

For my 2019 list I have about five quilt tops to finish, and hopefully quilt. I also will join a swap or two. I don't want to bite off too much as I'll be having our third baby in the summer.

I have posted some of them in various threads, unfortunately I am not very good at taking pictures and some of my pictures (even though I keep all the stuff the same) seem to be too big to post or I otherwise have problems linking them, but I'll see what I can do.

I realized a few years ago even though I quilted all the time, all my own quilts were getting old and falling apart. Plus my skill set had changed and I wasn't as happy with what I had had as I was when I did them. I am trying really hard to use up fabrics I have, especially back around Y2K I used to do a lot of fabric swapping so had collections of themed fabrics.

So my monthly list is:

January -- Lone Star Snowflake Sampler (fabrics collected and pattern/concept ready)

February -- Valentines (completed quilt, made partially from Valentine swapped fabrics, need picture)

March -- St Patricks Day/Triple Irish Chain (what I call a "planned" quilt, that is made from one set of fabrics and not from scraps)

April -- Easter Baskets (top made, not quilted, assorted color solid baskets filled with egg fabric)

May -- May Flower (completed quilt)
Mayflower is a pattern from the Ladies Art Company, very much like "Winding Ways" but without the curves and I've set it with a consistent white background. Each block is made from a different floral.

June -- Travel/Postcards (blocks made, actual postcard sized fabrics in a grey attic window, will be set together with black sashing to look sort of like the old scrap books with the black pages

July -- 4th of July (completed top, red/white/blue "planned" star blocks)

August -- Barn/Harvest (in progress, contemporary with a few pieced blocks and then lots of crops and animals and lots of embellishements)

September -- Houndstooth/Birthday month so my choice (top completed, not quilted)

October -- Halloween Cats (completed "planned" quilt, Puss in the Corner block)

November -- Turkey/Thanksgiving fan (In progress, almost done correcting the too small setting triangles!)

December -- Christmas String (design picked, fabrics selected, not started)

I really thought I'd finish more UFO's this year, but hopefully I'm on my way. My list of current UFO's include:

Simple squares throw - finish quilting and binding. This was a commercial pattern.
Denim and cotton top - needs borders, backing and binding. Due to the size/weight this one will go out to quilt.
Bright ombre quilt - needs borders, backing and binding, quilting.
OBW - piecing it now, need to decide on border design, then all the following steps.

Things I haven't really started:

French Roses - I never got started due to struggling with my machine tensioning. Have the pattern and fabric, need to start.
Peacock bed runner - design finished, need to finish cutting fabric and piecing, etc.
Cat quilt for a friend - need to *design* the darn thing, and all following steps
Garden Fence quilt for my sister - designed, need to finish getting all fabrics, then all the following steps.
Homespun/flannel rag quilt - still in the concept phase, but yeah, I have the fabric already, lol.

As usual, I have a stack of at least 20 UFOs. Last year my goal was to finish 12 UFOs (1 per month). I managed to finish 9 so far, but added a couple more to the pile (my BH ORL and my 2017 Temperature quilt). This fall I got bogged down with getting paintings ready for several shows and then had some health issues that really slowed me down. One UFO that I wanted to finish in Oct. got pushed back to Nov. and then to Dec.-- I still hope to get it finished before the end of 2018. We'll see.

For 2019 I will once again make a goal of finishing one UFO per month. I have several quilts that I want to enter in shows that need to be photographed and may need hanging sleeves and labels (I'll have to check). And I have several on-going projects that I need to keep pushing forward lest they also become UFOs. And I'm committed to participating in several art shows. Reading back over this paragraph I have a feeling there are too many things on my 2019 list since I'm trying to slow down

I don't make lists or resolutions. Invariably, my resolutions will be broken, and I'd lose the list. I work on what ever calls to me at the moment. Right now, I'm hand quilting a top I pieced a few years ago. Perhaps I'll finish it in 2019. Who knows. No hurry, no stress. Just enjoy the journey.

I plan to devote next year to lots more practice machine quilting. I don't spend enough time at it to be better than I am. I specifically want to improve my FMQ and use rulers that I bought for ruler quilting.

Making plans for the whole year?!! I can't seem to follow thru on the plans I make for VQW, but I try. I'm still going on the fabric fast I started last January. No buying any fabric at all! I am working to reduce my stash. All of 2018 (so far) I bought only 3 flat sheets (one was by accident) to make crib sheets for donation.

I have a college graduation quilt to make for my grandson in May. Fabric is bought and pattern decided on. I have 5 months for the Kimberbell pillow covers to make. And I want to finish my temperature quilt from 2017. Then, of course, there are the various UFOs that need quilting. I also have to finish a BQ quilt for Christmas. I have lots of ideas for quilts I want to make 'someday'. We'll see about those. The RA in my hands is getting worse so everything is taking much longer.

I am working on quilting a UFO that will be done before Christmas but I am going to do a scalloped edge with bias binding and that will take me into 2019. I have a lap quilt lined up to quilt after that with serpentine stitching lines. After that I will just work on whatever strikes my fancy.

I like having goals for the coming year. It's more dedicated than "I'd like to....."
So here goes:
1. Join the fabric moratorium. Last year must have made 50 charity quilts @~5yd/qt=250yds. This year I'd like to make 20 charity quilts @~5yds/qt=100yds.
2. Finish 12 UFO's. There are at least 6 quilts for forest fire victims that need LA & binding. One UFO is hanging on the wall looking at me. There's at least 2 quilt/bag from classes to finish. More will surface.
3. Finish all UFO's that need the LA. Clean it off and sell it. Then change the room to painting studio.
4. Make 6 art quilts for compitetions
5. Make 1 quilt for quild quilt show.

More will come to mind as the year goes on.
