and bought "saftey pins" at the store. it was midnight and it's all they had. So is this going to leave markings in my quilt? I had to pin it and get it off the living room floor cuz the dogs were walking all over it and i knew the kids would too in the morning so I pined it even though I saw it was leaving marks in some spots. Will they come out in the wash? I tried to use the basting pins in the cream spots and the safety pins in the red and blue.... ahhh i'm so nervous now!

I bought some of those safety pins with the slight bend in the middle and those worked fine. Also used regular safety pins in a pinch and I have had no problems.

what kind of marks???
not quite sure what kind of marks you would get from pins??? are they dirty???
pin holes do disappear when the quilt is quilted, bound and washed.
but if the pins are leaving some sort of...stain??? i would remove a guilty pin-and spot clean immediately to see if its coming out---and i would clean the pins...i would not leave in for any length of time any pin or any other (tool) that was soiling my quilt

when I first got my safety pins after using a few I noticed the marks. Took them all and washed them then laid them on a towel to thoroughly dry. This took care of the marks.
