I am so thankful that my Mom kept her boxes. When I cleaned out her sewing room I was able to pack up all 4 machines in the original boxes.

I keep the boxes. When I bought my Sweet 16 they told me to in case I had to ship it back. I think it has a 10 year warranty. When I bought a new embroidery machine I kept the box. It malfunctioned and I ended up sending it back for a new one. Was glad I did.

I kept the box for my Janome Jem because they said it was easier and safer to take on a plane that way. It fits into my carry-on and I don't worry as much when putting it in the overhead bin.

I keep my boxes for my sewing machines and computers. You never know when you will need them. Have a shelf up high in the garage that they all fit on. Never know when they will be needed.

I have top of the line and was told to keep my box. My dealer is also local and have onsite repairs but they said if I ever had to send it in it would be safer in the orginal box with the packing. When I traded my machine in for the latest a yr later it was good for the store to have it in the box for the new owner. They always make sure that all machines (even used ones) have all of the items shown in the book. When I turned mine in, I had every item that came with it and got a great price towards my new one.

Wish I had kept the box for my serger. Couldn't find a box for it to fit in.

Any store that ships frozen foods will have all sizes of foam insulated boxes. They work great for packing electronics, breakables and machines from portable to large. Fill up the space around the item with foam peanuts or bubble wrap. We used many of the foam lined boxes when my DD moved, not one item was damaged.

After reading all these comments and I do have the room, I am going to keep my Janome box. I don't expect any problems, but you never know.

I had a Designer 1 a few years ago and had gotten rid of the box because our condo was small. The problem was I later sold it to someone out of state and ended up paying $150 for shipping by UPS, because I had UPS pack it.

We tend to keep boxes for large item purchases and I do have the box for my Janome that I bought a few months ago. We store it in the attic or up in the hayloft of the barn.
