Actually, the drawing I used did use the 25 patch but I incorrectly put it in as an 8" block instead. Duh.

REVISED Estimated fabric requirements would be:

25 patch blocks/10" blocks - Colors (total) and Neutral = 1.5 yards each

Pinwheels - Colors (total) and Neutral = 1.75 yards each

Border fabric yardage not included.

Size as drawn would be ~74"x84" including borders.

Note: The fabric amounts might even be a little less because of the weird way EQ calculates yardage.

MTS you are really good at figuring out just what she needs, fab. and all I'm thinking we need to just give you a pic. when we have a problem on a pattern and let you figure it out for us, lol you're great! I could probably figure this out but it woul have taken me a good while to do so, and seems you did it it just a few minutes.

This is a picture, the customer emailed me. The quailty is very poor. I did regragh this because the custmer wants a custom size wall hanging 3 ft x 7 ft. The only reason I'm looking for the pattern is for the fabric requirements. I always over estimate, and end up adding to my stash. With this one I want to be a little closer.

I would add the corners to the 25 patch block and forget all the on point stuff. The outside blocks would be a headache for me to set.

Just an FYI - the quote from my earlier post that you both included was incorrect. I did revise it in another post after Susiex3 pointed out my boo-boo.

Well, no pattern is going to have the requirements for that rather non-standard size.

Ignore the colors - I just do that in EQ to easily and quickly get the fabric requirements.

This layout gets you close to 33"x86" including the borders - using a basic patch eize of 1.5" FINISHED (cut 2"), blocks are 7.5" FINISHED.

25patch blocks - 3/4 yard for each the colors and neutral.
Pinwheel blocks - 1 yard each for colors and neutral.

If you go up to a 1.75" FINISHED unit (cut 2.25"), block size 8.75" FINISHED, you'll be over the 36" width - maybe the customer is hanging it on the wall between two doors and that's the exact size she needs.
You could always adjust the borders if you wanted the larger block.
The fabric needed would increase only by about 1/8yd for the pinwheels.

You're going to end up with extra fabric anyway because you need a variety of colors to make it work.
If you buy 8-10 fat quarters for the colors and variety, you should have more than enough for the 25patch and pinwheel blocks.

This should easily take less than a day to cut and sew.
Picking the fabric will probably take longer. ;-)
Depending on how fast you work, you could have the whole thing quilted and bound as well.

Thank you for the pattern and thank you to Soccertaxi for the quick plans. I think I can do this. What a good way to use scraps and to challenge us just a little. Oh , yes and thanks to MTS for the fabric calculations! Off I go to add another scrappy quilt to my pattern collection. Wish I had more time to actually implement my plans! Retirement is in about 6 years....maybe then. Tee-Hee!

Looks like a great scrap quilt! Should be easy to figure a pattern, pinwheels and 5 patch. Just have to figure a reasonable size, 1" finished squares would need a 2.5" finished triangle for the pinwheels, for one size combo.
