I would check out the pattern books in the fabric store. I know that McCalls has a pattern for lingerie. I have not made my own and the fact that I am a big woman it would be hard to make a bra that would give me the right support. Jeanniebelle

Kwick Sew has many lingerie patterns. Everything from briefs that us older gals wear to the little boy shorts, bikini and thong that the young gals wear.

I used to make my own bathing suits when I was a teenager, they were fun to make and turned out really pretty good.

I used cotton knit jersey, tricot, lycra. Onetime for fun I used leftover scraps from making my boys tee shirts on the serger. The front was one color, the back was another and the crouch still another. You have to have a sense of humor and I thought they were quite funny but I actually wore them.

Hi.My neighbor makes her own custom panties, using her husband's soft, discarded T-shirts. Not sure what elastic she prefers, but she says she can't purchase panties that fit, as well as the ones she makes.

I used to make my own panties and half-slips. I had taken a class from the Viking sewing machine dealer back in the 1970s. Bras looked to difficult to me so I never tried them. I used the Kwik-Sew patterns. Making panties isn't as hard as it looks.

I'm ashamed to say this but I think I would rather go commando than try to make my own panties or bra and I can't tell you when I last owned a slip.

Nor is it expensive. I've never tried bras either but have been tempted. Last bras I got were $40. I have a thing for pretty bras and panties, especially the lacy kind. I'm tempted to try a bra. Thus said, sports bras look easy but I've never wore one. :) I like my clevage.......bad me. Like someone once said "You got them, flaunt them".

I have made my panties, slips and nightwear for years. Made one bra, ended up with two left cups.
